I think there're good reasons classics become and continue to be classics. This is the first time I ever watched the whole movie, and I'm glad I did so.
Forrest's mom is a great mom. She never gave up on him, and always encouraged him to face the fact that he's different. She did sacrifice a lot for Forrest like that damn public school principle said.
Lieutenant Dan is a great guy. His families served the army and died for the country. I guess he was taught to die for the honor of the nation. I felt sorry for him losing his legs but not getting his honor. He was lost for quite a while and lived a shity life. But finally he got his salvation, sucked everything up, and starts a new life again. PTL. I was so touched when he finally thanked Forrest and swam again in the ocean.
I love the character Bubah, Forrest's best buddy in the Vietnam war. When he told Forrest there were so many ways eating shrimps, it made me laugh. It's hard to see his death in the war and his final words" he wanna go home". War is cruel. Fortunately, the U.S government treats veterans very well. We do need to show respects to our soldiers. All of them need to be honored.
I don't know how I think about Jenny. She had a alcoholic father maybe very violent. She lived with grandma maybe not very nice to her. Although Forrest always says Jenny and him are beans and carrots, I think Jenny was very lost, lonely. Her prayers of becoming a bird didn't happen, and she did a lot of stupid things trying to find herself. I'm glad Forrest always stands by her side, helps her and finally saved her. Everyone makes mistakes. But as along as you repent, you can start a new life.
So, Forrest. He proved to the world that everyone got talents and needs to be respected. He is lucky because not everyone got talents had the chance to prove their talents. So it's just a movie, a fiction, but an inspiring one. That's why I like a lot of American movies especially the Disney ones. We gotta have dreams, and fight for it.
Finally, I saw the monument valley, the one he run with a bunch of followers, the one he finally stopped and said "it's time to go home". When I saw that place, it looked so familiar to me. And then I realized, I went there before!! Wow, it's pretty. I also heard the song "California dreamin'", one of my favorite recently. Nice movie, nice music and scenes, a nice afternoon.
